3. In 1750 people from the Azor Islands settled the area among indigenous tribes and runaway slaves.

5. It is mainly an agricultural area.

2. It is one of the oldest cities in Santa Catarina.
3. The Spanish first settled the area in 1553 and the city was founded in 1658 by the Portuguese. Later many African slaves as well as French settlers arrived.
4. The city is located on the island of São Francisco do Sul.
5. The city has a large port and the island has many beaches, one which is renowned for surfing.
6. Considered part of the micro-region of Joinville.

3. It is located on the coast and most people either work in the fishing or agriculture industry.
